Hi! My name is Allison, and I love Eleanor Roosevelt. I have a picture of her hanging in my room because it reminds me to live each day helping people like she did. Eleanor Roosevelt was a great woman who did a lot of good deeds for people throughout her life and I'm so excited to tell you more about her!

Eleanor Roosevelt was born October 11th, 1884, in New York City, New York, to her mother Anna and her father Elliott.

Eleanor was a very shy girl growing up.

Eleanor lost both her mother and her father before she turned ten years old. This hard time in Eleanor's life helped break her out of her shyness.

Eleanor grew up and got married to Franklin Delano Roosevelt, also know as FDR, in 1805. Together they had 6 children.

Here is Mrs. Roosevelt working as a WWI volunteer with Red Cross in 1914. Mrs. Roosevelt did this for four years!

In this picture, Eleanor Roosevelt is serving soup to the poor. This photograph was taken in 1932.

Eleanor Roosevelt became the First Lady of the United States in 1933 and she did this for 12 years while her husband was President. However, Mrs. Roosevelt was different than all the other First Lady's. She did a lot of public speaking, radio talk shows, she wrote books, and she helped to serve the nation alongside her husband.

Here is a picture of Eleanor campaigning for her husband, FDR, in 1936. She was helping him run for re-election as president.
