This fractured fairy tale,The Princess and the Flea, is based on Hans Christian Andersen's 1835 classic fairy tale, The princess and the Pea. The inspiration for this book comes from the recent passing of our 19 year old beloved dog, Kooper Von Pooper.

Once upon a time, in a kingdom ruled by a loving and kind royal family, lived a very handsome prince. His name was Prince Kooper. This prince was different than most of the princes in the land, as he possessed a secret that very few knew.

When he was a young boy, he was given the ability to transform into a little shaggy dog by a magical witch that lived within the castle.

The witch was kind to the boy, and understood what it felt like to be lonely. It was for this reason that the Witch allowed the boy to transform into a dog. So he could always find companions in the fleas, and come and go from the castle as he pleased.

As the boy grew older and escaped the castle more often, his friendship with the fleas grew loyal and strong. He learned to love and appreciate them for their constant wisdom and advice.

As prince Kooper grew older the time came for the prince to begin his search for a princess. Prince Kooper was rather picky though. She would need to be a real princess, not just a commoner seeking his royal wealth. So the prince packed his horse and began his quest.

The prince traveled far and wide meeting with many princesses from many lands, but nowhere could he find the princess of his dreams.

There was always something wrong with the princesses he met. They were either too fat or too thin. Too mean or impolite.

Finally, Prince Kooper, defeated and lonely, decided to return home to the castle where at least he had the company of his beloved and loyal fleas.
