On a small farm several years ago, there lived an old tom turkey. He was named, as you might guess Mr. Tom. He had a lot of friends on the farm. There was Donk, Donk the donkey who like to bray and bray. then all the chickens who clucked and clucked all day. Roger the rooster and his three brothers  Mike, Mickey and Major who liked to crow early in the morning.

Goaty Bell  was a small, black, pygmy goat that loved to play.

  Then there was Cleo, a beautiful painted mare with a mane and tail that drug the ground when she walked and waved like a flag when she ran. She knew she was pretty and liked to show off. Cleo would run around the farm and prance just so everyone could see her.

The pasture where Cleo and Goaty Bell spent most of their days was next to the road where travelers passed with their wagons and teams. When they passed all the animals would gather by the fence to watch and get the latest news from other farms.

Cleo and Goaty Bell were young and wild and would run through all the other animals Kicking and Jumping and being quite reckless.  Mr. Tom would caution them every time to be careful. They might hurt themselves or someone else.

All the animals on the farm had playmates, except Mr. Tom, he was all alone.

The Roosters had all the hens and their brothers, Goaty Bell and Cleo had each other and there were other horses and goats on the farm but Mr. Tom was the only turkey.

He had wished and wished for the farmer to bring home a mate for him. 

Then one day it happened. The farmer came home with a fine feathered friend, just for Mr. Tom. Her name was Tilly and Mr. Tom thought she was beautiful. Her feathers glistened in the sun. Ohhh!!  The sound of her voice was like music to his ears and she found Mr. Tom to be her perfect sole mate. they were so happy together They let everyone Know   

Gobbling and fluttering every time a traveler passed.
