Billy's Search for a Job
by: Christopher Nowacki

Today is a special day because
today is Billy's birthday! Always
a fan of party themes, Billy was
happy to be dressed as a cowboy
to celebrate his special day.

Billy's mom is here to help celebrate too! But Billy's mom has an
important question. "Billy," she asks, "are you going to find a
Job now that you are old?"

"Oh no!" Billy thinks to himself. Where will he find a Job? Billy
doesn't know where to find a Job, but he does know that now
it's finally time. "Yes, Mom. Today I will try to find a Job."

So Billy takes off his cowboy
costume and puts on his best
suit. Then he sets off to find a
Job.

Walking in the forest on his way to the city, Billy met an unfamiliar
face. "Hello there mister! Do you know where I might find a Job?"
The stranger replies, "So you're looking for a Job young man? I'm
afraid I can't give you a Job, but I can give you some advice."
"Great!"
"OK, start by figuring out what type of Job you want to find. Then,
once you know what you want to do, trust your instincts and moral
compass to lead you where you need to go."
"Wow! That sounds like good advice. Thanks for your help mister."
"Happy to help, young man. The name's Craig Newmark by the
way."
"Thanks again!" And with that, Billy was on his way, certain he had
a long and interesting road ahead as he sought out a Job.

A little farther down the road, out of the forest, Billy met
two more new faces. Once again, he asked the strangers,
"Excuse me, do either of you know where I can find a Job?"
One stranger replied, "No, sorry little man. But you know,
with the right amount of creativity, anyone can find a Job."
"What do you mean?" asked Billy.
"Well, my name's Mitch Kapor, and I used my own
creativity to make computers a more powerful tool for other
business leaders. Creativity is the key to finding a Job."
The second man jumped in and added, "Creativity and
innovation. My name's Max Levchin, and I've used innovation
to create many, many companies and Jobs."
"Hmm. I'm super creative," Billy said excitedly. "Thanks
for the help, you two!" As he walked away, Billy was glad for
this new advice. If creativity and innovation could help find a
Job, then this task might be easier than he thought!

Still a long way from the city, Billy cut across a field to
reach a different path. Still thinking about his creativity, he
walked straight into another stranger! "Oh no! I'm so sorry
sir. I was thinking so hard I forgot to watch where I was
going."
"No worries." Said the stranger. "What were you thinking
so hard about?"
"Well, I'm looking for a Job. And I was using my creativity
to innovate and find a Job," Billy answered.
"Well that's simple! Just ask my friend Abbie Durkee here.
We'll both agree that finding an opportunity that involves your
passion is the key to finding a Job."
Billy was super excited. "Thanks mister -
"Jay-Z," the stranger interrupted with a quick shrug.
"Well thanks Jay-Z. I'll be sure to start thinking about
things I'm passionate about too!" And Billy did just that as he
cut across the field.

Leaving the field behind, Billy was very optimistic about
finding a Job. He had gotten great advice and felt like he was
nearly there. Little did he know that huge obstacles loomed
ahead.
"Hello there!"
Billy was taken by surprise and didn't know from where the
voice had come. He turned around to face another new face.
Today was certainly turning into a day of firsts! "Hello sir, can
I help you?" Billy asked.
"Well, you look a little lost. Maybe I can help you!" the
stranger fired back. "The name's Gates, Bill Gates."
"I'm not really lost, just looking for a Job," Billy explained.
"You know what you need? You need a plan. A concrete
plan that you can stick to no matter what other people
suggest. That way, you can start a new Job when you're
ready to do your best, like charity work, for instance."
"OK," said Billy. "I'll get to work on a plan. Thanks for the
advice Mr. Gates!"

Billy had walked a long way while thinking up his BIG plan.
So far, in fact, that he didn't notice the weather growing so
much colder...
...
"I'm definitely 'Like'ing this mountain when I get back," a
voice said from above.
"Hello?" Billy yelled ahead, realizing for the first time he
was at the bottom of a mountain. "Oh no! I'm way off course.
This wasn't part of my plan!"
"Hey bud, what plan are talking about?" the voice said.
"My plan to find a Job!" Billy answered.
"Well, take it from me little man, it's ok to break things in
order to make them better. And that's a Mark Zuckerberg
original."
"Hmm, well I guess that makes sense. Thanks for the
advice, but I'd better get back to finding a Job," Billy replied,
still a little worried he was running out of time.
