Once upon a time, not too long ago, there was a teacher named Ms. Draus who was tutoring a student, DJ, during reading clinic.    

For DJ’s tutoring lesson, she would bring a book along for him to read independently. One day while looking for books in the library, Ms. Draus found a book that looked fun to read because it had a cute cover. She thought it would be perfect for DJ.  

When she brought it to reading clinic, DJ flew through the book with no errors and said, “Ms. Draus this book was too easy.” Because it was so easy and did not interest him, DJ was bored.

Knowing that book was too easy, Ms. Draus went back to the library to find a new book for DJ. This time she found a book that had more pages and a boring cover. She thought to herself “This book is perfect! It’s more challenging than the last book and it’s about cheetahs, which is one of DJ’s interests.” 

The next day, Ms. Draus showed DJ the book and he was excited it was about cheetahs, but when it came to reading it, he was stumbling and struggling with decoding words. He got frustrated and said, “Ms. Draus this book is too hard.”
