For Ms Case, an amazing English teacher

Brian was scared. His first day of primary school was tomorrow, and he did not know what would happen. “What if it’s not the same as preschool? The thought of this made Brian so nervous that he became very tired, causing him to slowly slip into a silent sleep.

The next morning, Brian woke up and got ready. His mom helped him into his school clothes and she made him his favorite breakfast: pancakes!

Brian quickly ran into his room and sprawled the supplies he would need for the day all over his bed. He then picked them up one by one and placed them into his backpack.

There was a sudden honk outside. Brian looked out the window and saw the school bus. He quickly packed up his stuff, gave his mom a goodbye hug and ran out the door.

The bus drove through the dirt roads and across the rural area on its way to the city that Brian's new school was in. Brian had never traveled this route before; he saw large trees and even a few moose!

The bus soon pulled up to the school. The large building loomed over Brian. It was so much bigger than his preschool, but he knew that he would be fine.

Brian got into his classroom. Where was the carpet to sit on? “Hello grade ones!” the teacher called. “Please look around the class and find the desk with your name tag.” Brian had never had his own desk before. Once he found his desk, Brian sat down and felt like his mom, who had her own work desk at home.

"Today we will start class with a name game" the teacher said. "We will go around the room, say your name and a good memory you have." Once it was Brian's turn, he cleared his throat and took a deep breath. "Hi, I'm Brian, and my favorite memory is from kindergarten!" The class greeted him eagerly, which helped him relax

As the teacher began the first lesson, Brian looked around at the people sitting around him. "Hi, I'm Emma, want to be friends?" the girl sitting next to Brian said. "Hi, okay I would love to!" Brian replied, having a feeling that Emma was going to be his favorite person in the class.

Soon the bell went off to signal the start of recess. Brian walked outside and noticed the other kids playing a game he had never saw before. “Hey, you wanna play?” Emma called out to him. “It’s soccer baseball, the rules of soccer and baseball are put together!” Brian excitedly joined the game and soon became really good, kicking the ball farther than anybody else.

Suddenly, Brian kicked the ball so hard that it went deep into the distance. The rest of the kids tried to search for it but had no luck. "I'm so sorry everybody, I didn't mean to..." Brian said sadly. "Don't worry, that was an awesome kick!" said the young boy who was pitching. "Yeah, good stuff Brian!" Emma exclaimed. This helped to put Brian at ease a bit.

Before class resumed after recess, Brian went up to the teacher. "Um excuse me miss, I don't think I'll do well in this class, I'm too dumb for grade one." "No need to worry Brian, I teach at a very slow pace and will always help. Besides you are very smart, never think otherwise!"Brian felt better and knew he could trust his teacher.
