This novel was written by Charles Dickens in the year 1837. Oliver Twist an orphan, works in a workhouse where he is mistreated and starved. He is sold into apprenticeship with an undertaker. After being mistreated he runs away to London and is forced to join a team of robbers led by Fagin. In a failed robbery he is shot. Then Oliver goes to the house they tried to rob and pleads for help.
SYNOPSIS
Corruption:
A piece of gold jewellery is all Oliver has as a clue to who his mother is and who he is. His older brother bribes a person to get this jewellery and information on Oliver’s whereabouts. This puts Oliver in danger.
How “oliver twist” shows world wide issues like:
Discrimination:
Oliver is ill treated in all the places he goes and is beaten. Is that the way to treat a small child? Of course not! But, since he was an orphaned child with no money everyone thinks that he can not do anything. So they pick on him and make him starve. Is that a dignified life of a child?
