This book is dedicated to Blare Gooch and all the lives that he made better.

There once was a little boy named Jameson
who lived in a village in Haiti. He lived with
his mother, father, two brothers, and his cat Peterson.

He loved his family and loved to play in the village square. Jameson had many friends. Life in Haiti was good, until one awful day.

On January 12, 2010 an earthquake hit Haiti destroying many houses. The ground shook very hard and houses swayed. Many fell down, because they were not built very well. Jameson's house was one of them. This left Jameson no where to live.

Jameson and his family had to sleep in a tent. The tent was uncomfortable. Jameson missed sleeping in his own bed in his own house. He wondered when he would get to go home.

Back in Michigan, 13 year old Blare Gooch watched the earthquake on his TV. He was very sad for kids like Jameson who had lost their homes. He wanted to find a way to help them.

Blare thought and thought about how to help the kids in Haiti.
He eventually got the idea to donate teddy bears to provide comfort. Blare's teddy bears always made him feel safe, and he wanted the children
of Haiti to feel the
same way.

Blare decided to donate three of his own teddy bears first. He even donated his favorite one, Brown Bear, who he slept with every night. It was very difficult for him to donate these teddy bears, but he knew they would make some little boy or girl very happy.

Blare told his local school about his plan, and the school decided to help him out by helping him collect teddy bears. Other schools decided to help too.

In one year, Blare was able to donate over 22,000 bears to the children of Haiti. Now, children like Jameson could have something of their own to make them feel safe while their homes were being rebuilt.

When the box of bears arrived Jameson was so happy. He now had Brown Bear to sleep with at night. This made him smile for the first time since the earthquake.
