Abby was good at a lot of things. Like playing hide and seek and eye spy.

And one day her friend, Hope, asked her to play a new game. The new game was called softball.

Abby said yes to her friend. She was so excited to play a new game.

The goal in softball is to get on base and Abby was not getting on base. She was getting sad and was giving up.

Abby knew that she should not give up but she did not understand why everyone else was not sad when they did not get on base.

Hope and the other players noticed that Abby was not enjoying the game. So they decided to go talk to Abby about it.

"Abby it is okay to not get on base," Hope said to Abby.

"But that is the whole point of the game... right?" Abby asked.

"Yes and no," Hope told Abby. "You want to get on base but making contact with the ball is great!"
