To Mr. Meyers-for giving me another opportunity to implement dinosaurs in my life (as if one room dedicated to their extinct glory isn't enough).
-Grace
Dedicated to Mr. Meyers, for being the best American Government these past three months and being slightly better than Mr. Mann (You kind of wrote your own dedication).
-Bianca
Bianca pretty much sums it up.
-Mollie

Drake is so excited! For the 4th of July he is going to visit the White House and learn about the Constitution!

After the long car ride, he and his mom finally arrive! After they get inside Drake sees someone he was sure would be busy today-the President!

Drake can't contain his excitement! He runs up to President Rex. After Drake introduces himself and tells the President why he is there, the best thing ever happens! President Rex offers to tell him about the Constitution!

The first thing Drake learns about is Popular Sovereignty. President Rex tells him that popular sovereignty is the people in charge of the government. He tells Drake that every time his mom goes out and votes, she is participating in popular sovereignty!

Next, Drake learns about limited government. The President tells him that it just means the government can't do whatever it wants and has to obey the law too.

As they are walking around the White House, Drake hears someone mention Separation of Powers. "Mr. President," he says, "what is separation of powers?" President Rex nods, looking impressed. "Separation of powers means that the power in the U.S. is distributed between Congress, the Courts, and me." Drake thinks that is super cool.
