Thomas Jefferson's election and presidential term.


In the Election of 1800 there was much dispare. The two sides Republicans and the Federalist were fighting with each other for office. They keep throwing insults at each other and calling each other names trying to damage the others reputation.


With Jefferson in the Spot light after wining for his party by eight votes there was still one more problem. He tied with
his running mate. Aaron
Burr

Now the House of Representatives has to vote between Jefferson and Burr. Alexander Hamilton know that Jefferson is much more fit for the job so he puts in two extra votes so that Jefferson wins by 2.




After Jefferson's win Burr catches wind about what Hamilton did and is very mad at him. He calls him out for a dual and they fight with lazer guns. Hamilton gets confused and fires strate into the air then Burr beats the living day lights out of Hamilton and sends him home crying to his momma.











Even though the Republican party was controlling the government. Adams before his term ended as the bad guy he is snuck in a few extra judges into the courts. they were known as the midnight judges.
This angered Jefferson greatly because some of the Judges hadn't gotten the documents authorizing the appointments. This led to Marbury vs. Madison.


















Madison won the case but the reason it was significant was because it showed the separation of powers among the three branches of government
After all of this fighting Jefferson was finally ready to do something big for the nation. He decided to purchase Louisiana from Napoleon for 15 Million dollars

Jefferson now needs a few brave men to explore the new bought land so that Americans can start colonizing it.
Lewis and Clark are the men for the Job so they get hired to explore.
