Once upon a time, there was a second terrible war. The leaders of major countries could not agree on policy and politics so the world was launched into conflict once again.

As they say, "necessity is the mother of all invention," so mankind developed many different and new ways of attacking others and protecting themselves.

Tanks were a new addition to the battlefront. They allowed soldiers to be transported and strike long range while being protected in an armored shell. The most important tank to the Americans was the M4 Sherman Tank.

The Germans also used tanks during the war. Their most famous design was the Tiger Tank. Hitler used these tanks to create the dreaded Blitzkrieg, otherwise known as "lightning war."

Aircraft also played a major role in deciding the outcomes of battles. Whichever army controlled the skies often controlled the battle on the ground. There were many new planes developed during WW II: small fighter planes for dogfights, long range bombers, and large transport planes used for supplies and moving troops.

Helicopters were invented before World War II, but they had never been used for military applications. The ability to vertically land and take off drastically improved troop distribution and the transport of supplies to areas where landing strips for traditional aircraft were impossible to build.
