The Sun is Rising
When I woke I was greeted by the sun dancing in the sky. “Why am I here again?” I thought to myself when I remembered how Alaa, Siya, and I slept at Alaa’s house overnight, so we board the plane on time and get seats together. That is when I jumped out of bed and shook Alaa awake, “Ahh! What do you want, it’s like 3 am!” Alaa shouted in my face. “We can’t be late for the plane,” I pouted. I then woke up Siya and made sure Alaa didn’t go back to sleep. We rarely got snow
but this year we were going to see tons of it. Me, Siya, Alla, and our moms were going to Alaska as a special treat. After breakfast we rushed to the airport. We had to go through a lot of security checks, and we were all really bored. “We have been here for 10 years!” Siya whined. Awhile later we arrived in Alaska after a long flight. The ground was covered in a thick layer of glittering snow. “Yay! I love snow, and there is so much of it,” I said excitedly. I looked up and saw the domestic Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis, decorated with
colors of the rainbow. I squealed and then we started walking through the snow to get to our cabins.
Lost
Soon we got there and checked in. Then we had dinner and went to sleep. The next day we woke up nice and early. My mom sang,“The early bird catches the worm.” Alaa exclaimed, “I would like to be a worm then,” but she got out of bed anyway. We went on a nice walk which Siya hated. “It’s freezing,” she complained. Her mom said, “We are almost there, I promise it’ll be worth it. Just be patient.” 30 minutes later we got to a sparkling lake. “It’s beautiful,” I said in awe.
“We are sleeping here tonight,” Alaa’s mom explained. “Are you excited?” my mom asked unsure. We all squealed yes. We set up a tent and set a small fire. Then we went to sleep. The next morning before our moms left, they told us we could come when we were ready. So me, Alaa, and Siya went on a walk and played in the fresh freezing frosty snow. “We should head back now,” Siya said. “I agree, I can’t even feel my feet,” I whispered. “Okay, let's go,” Alaa commanded. “ We have been walking for a while now. Are we lost?!” I
exclaimed worriedly. “Maybe,” Alaa said like she was about to burst into tears. “I don’t know why I ever listened to you, ” Siya said with anger in her voice. “But we can find the bearberry bush that was next to our tent,” Alaa said. “How are we going to find that? Are you going to show us the way again?” I asked the only question going through my mind.
