In the year 1620, some people in England did not like the church's rules, or the King, and wanted to make a new church with new rules.

The people decided they wanted to leave England to go to a new land. They would travel on a ship called The Mayflower and go to America.

102 people were on the ship. 33 of them were children. There were also around 25 crew members working.

The boat was very crowded with people, food, and supplies. The people could only take their most loved belongings because there was not enough room on the ship.

There were even animals like pigs, goats, and chickens on the small ship.

The journey from England to America would take 66 days sailing across the Atlantic Ocean.
They encountered many storms which put the ship on a new path towards Plymouth instead of Virginia.
