The Night of the Whispers

1
Hi my name is Shiloh Stephenson and I’m 8 years old. I’m not going to force you to read it, but this is a very scary book. Anyway, one evening my mom had to go somewhere and my sister Zani, was once again complaining to my mom to go with her, so she took my sister along. Now it was just my brother Kemari, and I. By the way, I like writing songs and stories, and at this point I was writing a song. My brother is 9 years older than me, and he
is always trying to trick people, especially me. When I was writing my song, my brother said something to me. He said, “Do you hear those whispers?”

I hesitated for a moment. Then I told him to stop tricking me. He said he was not joking, but when that second passed, I heard the whispers too. It said, “You’re all alone now, I’m going to get you.” I was very scared. My brother went to the kitchen and got a knife. Together we went up the stairs, we checked every room including the bathrooms, but there was no one there. After that, about 30 minutes later, my mom and sister came back.
We tried to tell them, but they didn’t believe us, of course my sister was getting scared though. My mom said for me to go brush my teeth, but I was scared. My brother said it was ok he checked, and so I felt a little bit better. I started up the stairs. My mom had to brush my sister’s teeth and my brother had to brush his teeth, so they came up behind me. When we were at the last step we heard something, we looked back down and— “AAAAAAAHH.”
We all screamed as two ghosts, a boy and a girl came flying toward us. Looking at us, they faked a move and went right past us. We looked the other way, and once again we heard the whispers. I looked to see if my brother, sister, and my mom were ok but I didn’t see them. Just then I heard the door slam, my sister, brother, and mom ran out the and left me behind. Now it was just me by myself, but then I saw the boy and girl. One was in my

room, and the other was in my sister’s room. I glanced properly, and both of their eyes were red facing me with anger. I said to them in a loud voice, “What do you want?” They replied in a grumpy voice and said, “We do this to every house and now it’s your turn.” “Do what’’ I said. “You’ll find out.” They said. “And by the way” —sling. (The sound of a knife as he threw it at me.)

I tried to run my fastest to the door, but I couldn’t because the knife they threw at me cut three of my toes. I limped as fast as I could and I pushed on the front door, but it was locked. I looked back to see if the ghosts were still there, but I didn’t see them, I couldn’t even see their shadow. I unlocked the door and tried to push the door open, but it wouldn’t budge. I looked through the door hole and I saw that there was a boulder blocking it. I thought my
family must have put it there. I started to get scared, then I looked through the door hole again. The boulder wasn’t there anymore. I opened the door, and —“AAAHHH!”

As I screamed I realized that it was my family, they had ghost costumes on. I guess it was for the ghosts to think that they were ghosts as well. I asked if they had one for me, but they said “no”. I was going to ask them how they got the costumes, but then I remembered that my mom always has her wallet in her pocket. I asked my mom why didn’t she buy me one, but she said she was out of money. I saw something in her hand, and I asked what it was.
She said it was something for my foot. We went for a walk, and when we got back my dad’s car was parked outside. As we got closer we heard him screaming, and just then the door swung open. My dad flew right out the door, but luckily my brother plays football, and he caught my dad before he fell into the rose bush. We all looked down to see if he was ok, but he had a big scratch across his face. As we were making sure he was ok we heard evil laughter, and I could tell it was the ghosts. I threw
