This story is dedicated to everybody who have survived through the misery known as The Great Depression. Bad sorrowful times are now over and a new beginning have begun.

Hello my name is Elizabeth, I am personally making this scrape book so I can look back and see how much I have changed financially, morally, economically, and to see how much my over all perseverance have grown in just about a decade. I hope this book serves more than just inspiring myself when I'm ready to throw the towel in,but can also inspire anybody who happens to view this and helps them see that you can make it through hard times.

Happier Times
I am a Real estate agent; meaning I sell houses for a living. I was married for 15 years, and I have three children. Th 1920's were great years for me. I married, birthed my children, and became a successful real estate agent- successfully selling many houses. I was astonished by the new creative banking system and places large amounts of the money my husband and I made into our bank account in order to ensure are children had a bright future. My husband was constantly experimenting with the stock markets and seeing which ones he could buy next . So over all we were pretty well off and definitely did not considered ourselves to be any where near poor.

"Nothing gold can stay...."
As the saying "nothing gold can stay" implies my happiness was soon turned completely upside down in to my very own world of depression. All the negativity mainly started with the stock market crash. A stock market that my husband was very invested in and a lot of my customers were invested in. My husband was unable to sell his stock market before October 29,1929 also known as black Tuesday. My family lost most of our incoming money and investment due to this crash. Less people were worried about buying houses, and more people people were worried about what they were going to do about all the money they have lost. My family and I was panicking but not as bad as some people were because we still had money in the bank, and my job would still allow us to have money coming in. My husband was devastated and felt as though he let our family down though which will soon change our relationship.

The Stock market crash was just the beginning of my problems. Soon the banks started failing all of the money my family and I had saved up was gone. I never considered my self poor before but poverty is a very contagious disease. I was no longer selling houses because more people were losing houses than buying them. There weren't that many people who had enough money in this time of depression to even considered moving into a larger home. More and more people were begging for a job on the side of the roads, my husband being one of those people. My husband soon decided to leave saying if he couldn't provide for his family than he didn't deserve to be with us. I tried selling houses for less money but nothing seemed to be working out.
