My Family
This is my family. We all lived in a small house. My 2 brothers slept in my small room with me. My parents had their separate room. We would play in the streets and we ran to the candy shop everyday at noon to get candy for our whole family.

My Parents
Living during the Great Depression was dreadful for our parents. My mother was a housewife, while my father worked as a fireman. We lived in New York City at this time, so my father was popular around town. Saving people from fires comes with great responsibility. His pay was decent.

Stock Market Crashes
As the stock market crashes my family panicked. I remember waking up every night from the yelling of my parents about not having enough money to buy even food. My dad kept his job, but his salary dropped 50%. I remember waiting in line with my family about to withdraw our money.

Spread of Poverty
As I said everyday my brothers and I run to the candy store to get candy for our family. One day my mother said we didn't have enough money to buy any suckers. My brothers and I respected her, but we still went to the candy store. On our way there we saw people on the streets begging for money. It was a scary to see. As we arrived at the candy store, it had a sign in the window. It said closed due to Great Depression.

Survival during the great Depression
During the Great Depression we barely had money to get food, some of the time we had to go to the soup kitchens and the bread lines. Until the point where my father lost his job completely, then we had to get direct relief, were cash payments and food where provided by the government. This really helped us get through everything.

Roosevelt
Our family blames Roosevelt for everything. When Roosevelt was elected is when my dad's job dropped his 100% pay to 50% pay. That's what my family says as I think its everyone's fault because of the unequal amount of wealthy and poor and that important industries struggled.

New Deal
There was three new deals that helped us majorly. One of them was Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). This helped us later on when my older brother got a job because he was 18. Also the Federal Emergency Relief Administration helped as it created a job for my older brother. The Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA) helped our whole family by providing us with food because the farmers got their pay so then they provided us with their foods.
