Aquata was a mermaid who had been raised by dolphins from the time she was born until her 18th birthday. She lived with the dolphins her entire life in a small section of the ocean and had never known anything else.

Aquata never left the dolphins' side because of the horror stories she had heard about the sharks. All of the dolphins always told Aquata of the times they had come face-to-face with a shark and it threatened to eat them.

I will EAT you!

Despite all of the stories Aquata had been told, she watched all of the fish swimming and playing together and wished she could be out there too. She never told any of the dolphins this of course, but it was what she wanted to do more than anything; the only thing holding her back were the sharks.

On Aquata's 18th birthday, she was given the opportunity to explore the ocean outside of their section just like the other dolphins had been before. She jumped at the chance and started on her journey. Her first plan was to swim with the fish; or what she thought were fish...
