It was a cool crisp day, Kaydance and her mom snuggled in their blankets and slept way past breakfast.

When they woke, Kaydance began to prepare her breakfast like she normally would.

"Why not let's try Brunch!" said mom.

"Brunch? What's that? Kaydance asked

Mom explained that brunch is a meal just too late to be breakfast and too early to be lunch. Kaydance was excited to try Brunch! "It sounds like Breakfast and Lunch together!" laughed Kaydance "sounds soooo fancy!"

"What do we eat for Brunch?"

Mom began to pull ingredients from the fridge and pantry. "Let's start with some sweet fruit crepes." said mom.

Immediately out jumped Apple, ready to be the star of the recipe.

"Oooo Brunch, this is new. I can't wait to be a part of this! exclaimed Broccoli excitedly.

"Hmmm" Apple got that look in her bite.

"Brunch is not for food like you! Especially sweet fruit crepes...You are not sweet, not a fruit, and NOT invited." Apple got that very familiar scowl on her face and turned away, her stem in the air.

Kaydance and her mom watched as Broccoli's bright green bushel wilted a bit and face saddened.
