Nelson was a very happy boy. He always seemed to be smiling.
Lots of things made Nelson smile....like...
riding his red bike really fast...
and playing chasey around the backyard with his dog....
and playing Hide and Seek with his friends...
and running under the sprinklers on a hot day...

and going to the beach and making sandcastles..
and playing football at the park..
and birthday parties...
and icecreams...
Lots of things made Nelson feel happy.
But, there was something that Nelson did not like and that was...

Bedtime.
Nelson did not like going to bed.
Because sometimes he felt scared...very scared.

One day Nelson's grandparents came to visit, they lived on a farm in the country.
Nelson felt happy when Nanna and Grandad came to visit.
Nanna would tell him great stories and Grandad would show him how to make things.
But, this time was even more exciting ... they were bringing a surprise with them!

"What's in that box?" asked Nelson.
"You can open it and have a look if you like" said Grandad with a smile.
Nelson could hear something shuffling inside the box. He quickly opened it and out popped a little head.
" It's a lamb !" shouted Nelson.
" His name is Oscar" said Nanna.

" Oscar has no Mummy or Daddy, so he needs someone to look after him and love him" said Nanna.
" I will, I will !!" said Nelson excitedly.
" Oh I think he would love that " said Nanna smiling.
Nelson's family decided to keep Oscar and care for him.
Nanna showed Nelson how to feed Oscar a bottle.
Oscar followed Nelson around everywhere.
They even helped Dad mow the lawns.
Nelson said that Oscar was his little buddy.

When it was bedtime, Nelson's mum played ticklish games with him and his dad played bedtime songs on guitar for him.
His sister and Grandad gave him a goodnight hug.
