In the garden, there were roses, daisies, sunflowers, and one lone cactus, named Clarence .

In the garden, there were roses, daisies, sunflowers, and one lone cactus, named Clarence .

But, all of the delicate flowers were mean to lonely Clarence because he was different and pointy.

The roses say to the cactus, "You're not pretty enough to be in our garden."
The daisies say, "You're too dangerous."
The sunflowers say, "Why doesn't anyone water you? It must be because nobody loves you."

These mean words hurt Clarence and made him frustrated because he knew would never hurt a fly.

The next day, all of the flowers made mean faces towards Clarence. Except for the roses. The roses seemed sad.

The roses expressed deep regret to Clarence. They said their behavior was hypocritical since they both had thorns. They all realized their mistake by harassing Clarance.

With heavy hearts, the roses apologized to Clarence for bullying him. All of the flowers realized that they only made fun of him because of a story that they heard about cacti.

One rose explained this situation saying, "We, the roses, know what it is like to be treated differently because of thorns. Everyone just assumes that you are dangerous and scary because you have some rough edges."

She continued, "Just because you have some rough edges doesn't mean that you should be treated like a completely different person."
