Once upon a time there was a water molecule named Wally the Water Droplet. One day Wally was playing outside and suddenly, he started to float upwards. "Oh no!" said Wally. "What's going on?"

His mom smiled and said, "Your evaporating!" Wally was puzzled. He had never heard this word before. "What does that mean?" he asked. "Evaporating is the process in which the sun gives water energy and turns the water into water vapor. This is your first step in your first water cycle journey!" his mother responded.

Wally had learned about the water cycle in school, however, he had never been on the journey himself. "Will I ever be a water droplet again?" cried Wally. "Yes," said his mother, "But first you will go on the journey of a lifetime." Wally trusted his mother, so with that, he gladly transformed into clear water vapor.

As Wally floated higher and higher, he started to see his destination. The biggest cloud in the sky! As Wally made his way into the cloud, he realized he was going through the next step in the water cycle: condensation. Wally remembered that condensation was the process in which energy is taken from the air and changes water vapor back into water.
Wally was happy to go through condensation because it meant he could become a water droplet again. But, Wally had to wait in the cloud until the next step in his journey occured. He was getting lonely when suddenly, he heard a small voice at his side. "Hello," it said, "Is anybody here?"

"Yes!" exclaimed Wally. "I'm here too! What's your name?" Wally was very happy to see another water droplet. "I'm Wanda," said the water droplet, "What's your name?" "My name is Wally and this is my first water cycle journey!" saisd Wally, excitedly. "Cool!" said Wanda, "This is my second time taking this journey. Next, we will go through precipitation."

Wally knew that he had heard the word precipitation before, but somehow, he had forgotten. "What is precipitation?" asked Wally. Wanda laughed. "Precipitation is the process in which water falls from the clouds due to gravity." she said. "Oh no!" wailed Wally. "Will it hurt?" "No silly," Wanda said, "It is just part of the water cycle. You won't feel a thing!"

Suddenly, the cloud started to rumble. As it rumbled, the sky got darker, and then before Wally could say another word, he was falling from the sky as rain! "Woo-hoo!" shouted Wally, "This is fun!" "Yes, it is!" shouted Wanda, "But get ready, soon we will hit the ground and start our next process in the journey."
