This story is dedicated to a cute dog who got lost two years ago. It is based on a true story...

When we were returning from school, we were sad by the death of our street cat called 'Twinkle'. The street dogs ate her up. When our bus dropped us at the outskirts of our building, we spotted a small street 'puppy'. He had brown eyes and his fur was a lighter shade of brown, the tip of his tail was white, so altogether he was a loveable pup. We stood there for a long time, and thought for a name for the pup. At last, we decided to call him 'Spike' !

Awww !
Lets call him Spike !
Spike was very active. Soon, the news of his arrival spread in our building. All our friends wanted to pet him. Many times, when I had to go to school, I carried a bowl and poured milk inside it. Then I gave it to Spike. Spike licked the bowl clean ! I also went to a pet-shop to get some puppy-food for Spike. When he started getting his teeth, I got teething toys for him from a pet-shop. Spike licked me, and a very good relationship started forming between Spike and me. If the guards of our building used to hit him, I took away their stick. I still have one of their stick at home.

Spike and me had a unique friendship. I also took Spike for vaccination to the vet. Every week, I took Spike inside my home and gave him a shower with soap and water. Spike was my best friend. I love Spike. Once, when I was waiting for my school-bus to come, I sat on a chair and played with Spike. Suddenly, he put both his feet on my lap. I can never forget that moment !! He was the cutest puppy I had ever met ! As days passed, Spike grew into a fit and healthy dog. He made friends with two other street dogs of our building, who I wasn't very familiar with. But Spike always stayed loyal to me.

C'mon Spike, lets have a shower !
One night, at around 8:00pm, my maid was going home. I had some energy biscuits at home. I decided to feed some to Spike. I fed Spike from the palm of my hand. He chewed the biscuits. After the biscuits finished, he started rolling on the ground. Suddenly, he put his paw on my palm. Then he did that many more times. I wondered what he was doing. As I was about to go, he pulled my dress. He was trying to tell me something. Then he sat down, with his back straight, looking at me. I somehow understood what he wanted me to say. I said 'shake-hands'. And he really did that ! I was overjoyed !!!
