Once upon a time, located two miles outside the village of Tarry Town, there was a small valley named Sleepy Hollow. It is said that a supernatural presence haunts the area that is known for being eerily quiet.

Those who live around Sleepy Hollow tell tales of spooky ghosts who haunt passersby. The most famous of these is the tale of the headless horseman.

As the spooky tales go, long ago a soldier in the Revolutionary War lost his head to a cannon ball. Since then, the headless horseman has been in constant search for his head haunting from Sleepy Hollow to the old church. The ghost will appear in the night and will begin to chase after a lone rider on horseback. One can only escape the clutches of the headless horseman if they cross over the wooden bridge across from the church.
Our story begins with Ichabod Crane, a poor teacher who ran the local school house. He made sure that the boys and girls of Tarry Town were well looked after. Ichabod was a tall lanky man who prided himself on his beauitful singing voice as he was in the choir at church.

One day, Ichabod became enchanted by the beautiful Katrina Van Tressel, the young daughter of a wealthy farmer.

Ichabod was not the only man who wanted to be Katrina's suitor. Brom Van Brunt was also in pursuit of Katrina. His mischievous nature and strength scared off anyone interested in Katrina, but Ichabod continued to pursue her. This made him the target of Brom who loved to play practical jokes. He filled the school house with smoke, and trained howling hounds to follow Ichabod everywhere he went.

Ichabod was invited to the Van Tresser household for a dinner where he would have a chance to impress Katrina. Ichabod put on his finest suit, borrowed a horse from his neighbor, and rode to the Van Tresser farm.
When Ichabod arrived at the farm, he was astounded by the wealth that the Van Tressers had. He began to fantasize what life with Katrina would be like. He could abandon his work at the school house and have plenty of food and money to live well. Ichabod spent the dinner laughing and dancing with Katrina. All was going well.

Despite his efforts, Katrina chose Brom as her suitor. Ichabod mounted his horse feeling dejected and low. He started his journey home in the dark of night through Sleepy Hollow.
Ichabod was well aware of the stories of Sleepy Hollow. He felt his heart race and his hair standing on end as he entered the enchanted valley.
