Allie and her parents were sitting in their living room one day and watching their favorite show, and one of the characters is just like Allie.

Allie then says, "Look Mom and Dad, that girl is just like me!"

Her Mom then said, "Honey, you have Trisomy 21, which is a genetic disorder that makes you very different, but in a beautiful way."

The next day, Mrs. Smith, Allie's teacher, decides to teach the class about Down Syndrome, also known as Trisomy 21.

"Today class, we will be talking about Down Syndrome, meaning those that have it, has an extra copy of Chromosome 21 in their body," says Mrs. Smith.

"Those that have this disorder can have a hard time learning in class,

and the ability

to speak. They

also look

different from

others."

Once the lesson was over, all the kids went out for recess.

At recess, no one would play or talk to Allie, except for her friend Kate, but she only waved.

"Hey Allie, I now know why you're such a slow learner in class .. You have that disorder! Haha!"

While at recess, a classmate of Allie's, Ginger, starts to make fun of her ...

Allie then gets very upset and walks away from Ginger to go back to the classroom.
