Mort the Ordinary Opossum

Mort is an opossum.

An ordinary opossum that no one really liked.

Some people think opossums are stinky, ugly, and gross animals.

Mort wanted to be so much more than an ordinary opossum.

He wanted to be special like his friend Snappy the turtle. She was strong and had a hard shell to protect her.

"I wish I was strong like you Snappy", Mort said. "Maybe if I had a shell like you I could be strong too."

"I don't think I can give you mine.", Snappy replied.

"Maybe a shell would be good for you. It may help you keep the bugs out of your fur".

Snappy was right. Mort had many bugs in his fur.

"Oh these bugs", Mort said. "They taste good and I have so many to eat everyday."

Mort has a super immune system. He can eat ticks and bugs and not get diseases or sick from them.

Snappy was shocked. "You don't get sick from eating ticks?"

"Nope", Mort replied..

"You are stronger than I am!", Snappy exclaimed.

Mort felt better but still wanted to be more than just an ordinary opossum.

He ran into his friend Russ

the crow.

"Why so sad Mort?", Russ Asked.

"I wish I was more than an

ordinary opossum."

"I wish I was smart and clever like you and your family."

"You all work together and use your brains to survive", Mort said. "If I had brains like you I would be different than an ordinary opossum."
