Dedicated to Cinderella.

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful young lady named Cinderella. Cinderella lived with her father in a homely cottage on their farm.

Cinderella’s mother passed away when she was very young, so Cinderella never got to know her. Before she passed, Cinderella’s mother suffered from a case of schizophrenia. Because of this, Cinderella always knew that there was a possibility of her having schizophrenia too. But that didn’t stop her from living her best life.

One day, Cinderella’s father announced that he was engaged to a woman by the name of Lady Tremaine. This woman would become Cinderella’s new stepmother. Lady Tremaine had two daughters, Drizella and Anastasia, who would also become Cinderella’s stepsisters.
However, soon after they were married, Cinderella’s father became gravely ill. Sadly, this caused him to pass away. This left Cinderella and her two stepsisters in the care of her stepmother.

Her father’s death greatly traumatized Cinderella. This caused a change within Cinderella. She began to experience frequent hallucinations and delusions.

One of the most common hallucinations was her mice friends, Gus Gus and Jaq. Gus Gus and Jaq would talk to her and offer advice to help her cope with the stress of her stepmother.

Stepmother treated Cinderella lesser than her real children, mostly because she was the stepchild. Stepmother suffered from Bipolar disorder, and experienced episodes of extreme happiness followed by episodes of chronic depression. She would often take out the bad feelings on Cinderella by forcing her to clean, cook, and wait on them, almost like a slave.
One day, an invitation arrived at their household. It was for a ball being hosted by Prince Charming. He wanted to invite everyone in the land to partake in his ball.

Cinderella desperately wanted to go to this dance, for a chance to finally get out of the house. She asked her stepmother, and her stepmother said she only could if she finished all of her chores. Stepmother gave Cinderella a ridiculous amount of chores, so it would be almost impossible for her to finish in time for the ball.

However, Cinderella still worked her hardest to get all of her chores done. With her mouse friends to comfort her, she eventually completed all of the chores in time for the ball.

To prepare for the dance, Cinderella had to find something to wear. She went through her closet and found an old dress of her mother’s. She tried the dress on and it fit perfectly. She was now ready to go to the ball.

Stepmother, however, did not want Cinderella to go. To prevent her from being able to go, Lady Tremaine sent her two daughters to destroy the dress. They snuck up behind Cinderella and ripped her dress to shreds.

Cinderella was devastated by this. Even her mice friends were unable to help her.

Soon after, Cinderella’s stepmother and stepsisters left for the ball, leaving her at home alone. Suddenly, Cinderella heard a loud crashing noise outside of her window. She went to check out what it was.

She opened the window to see a woman in a carriage which she had ran into the side of the house. Cinderella quickly ran outside to check on the woman.

“What happened to you? Are you okay?” asked Cinderella to the woman
“I could ask the same to you, Cinderella.”
Cinderella was shocked by this. How did this strange woman know her name?

“How do you know my name, lady?” asked Cinderella.
“Cinderella, I am your fairy godmother.”
“A fairy godmother? I’m so excited! I should tell my friends,” exclaimed Cinderella.
“Follow me!” said Cinderella.
She lead her fairy godmother into the house to a hole in the wall.
“Gus Gus! Jaq! Come out!”
Cinderella waited patiently for a few seconds.
“Look, these are my friends, Gus Gus and Jaq. Sometimes they tell me to hurt my stepmother and stepsisters, but they are very nice to me most of the time.”

“Friends? Dear, there is nothing there,” said the godmother
“What do you mean, Fairy Godmother! They are right there!”
“Cinderella, you seem to be experiencing hallucinations, a symptom of schizophrenia,” said Godmother.
“Schizophrenia? Isn’t that what my mother had?” asked Cinderella.
“It is very possible, the risk of schizophrenia can be increased from parents’ genetics.”

Fairy Godmother pulled out her wand. She waved it in a strange motion, and a small bottle was created.
“Here, Cinderella. Take this magic chlorpromazine. It should help you.”
Cinderella read the bottle and took the prescribed dosage.
“I don’t feel any different, Godmother,” said Cinderella.
“Do not worry, it will help eventually.

“Now, dear, what has happened to you?” asked Fairy Godmother.
“Well, you see, Godmother, there is a ball today being hosted by Prince Charming and everyone is invited. My mean stepsisters tore up my dress, though, so now I can’t go!
“I can help with that,” said fairy godmother.
Fairy godmother waved her wand again. This time, a beautiful new dress was created along with a new pair of gorgeous glass slippers.
“Fairy Godmother! Is this for me?” asked Cinderella.
“Yes, Cinderella,” replied the Fairy Godmother, “Now you go have fun at that ball.”

But, there was still one problem that remained
“Fairy Godmother, how will I get to the ball?”
“Ah, that can be taken care of very easily,” said the Godmother.
She waved her wand again, and this time she pointed towards her crashed carriage. The carriage glowed and was suddenly as good as new.
“Thank you, Fairy Godmother!” said Cinderella.
“Before you go, though,” said Fairy Godmother, “Keep in mind that the magic used to fix your dress and the carriage will wear off at midnight.”
“Oh, I will remember that, thank you.” said Cinderella.

“Now, you hurry up and get to that ball!” said Godmother.
Cinderella got in the carriage, and the horses started going in the direction of Prince Charming’s castle. After a while she arrived at the front door.
Cinderella took a deep breath. She knew that everyone was invited, but she still felt nervous. She finally gathered up her courage and walked in. As soon as she entered the door, all eyes were on her. This included those of the prince, who immediately walked up to her.
