Dedicated to Ruby Donovan who has shared her passion of raising service dogs with the next generation. Ruby has been training dogs for 30 years. Just think how many lives she's changed!

Alfredo is a Golden Retriever. He is a puppy in training. He is only 14 months old and he already knows 30 commands. He can sit, wait, shake and put his paws up on a table or your lap on cue. Ruby uses dog treats to get him to perform. We were helping him get used to being around children. Notice the blue leash around his mouth. It is not a muzzle it's a gentle way to guide him for people with low muscle control like children.
Each student took a turn at reading to Alfredo. He was a very good listener. One day this may be one of his jobs as a service dog. When service dogs are working you aren't supposed to pet them unless you ask their owner. It is their job to be the hands and feet for their handler to make life easier for those who are physically challenged.
