Chapter 1

Amberkit streched her eyes open, yawning. "Today we get to explore the camp!" she thought as she started grooming herself.

"Wake up Springkit! Mousetail said we could go outside today!"

"Ok!" Springkit's eyes popped up, shining with delight. "Lets go!"

"Be careful." Mousetail was awake now, licking her pads. "Don't wander into the warriors nest, you might wake Berrywhhisker, and he wont like that."

"Okay, Mousetail"

"We won't, Mousetail!"

The two kits stumbled outside the den and into the bright morning.

"It's so big!" cried Springkit, "How will we ever make our way around!"

Leafpaw and Featherpaw, the older apprentices, went over to the kits.

"We can show you around," offered Leafpaw. He was the medicine cat

apprentice, and had smelly herbs in his mouth.

"Thanks! Mousetail told us to stay out of the warriors den, but we don't know where that is."

"Oh, I can show you. It's near the medicine cat den, so I can drop these off after showing you."

The four cats padded over to a vine-covered den made of stone.

"I'll just drop these off and then show you the den!" he said cheerfully.

As Leafpaw dissapperd, Featherpaw said, "Does Mousetail know you're out here?"

Springkit blinked. "Of course she does! We would never leave the den without telling her!"

Featherpaw snorted. "Really? Than why did I see your sister trying to leave the den yesterday night?"
