Once upon a time,

when the Earth was new,

there was a baby bird

with a mom bird and a dad bird too.

The baby bird's name was Ethan and he was a strong chick. After all, he hatched from his egg with a very strong kick!

Ethan was from Toronto. That was his home. It was a place that was mostly safe, and he loved to roam.

In July, Ethan basked in the hot city sun. After all, Toronto was so hot, and he needed some fun. He sat by the beach and ate any worms that he caught, Ethan felt that this was as good as life got.

By mid August, Ethan flew from his tree, he soared up high, and flew down through the leaves. He was on top of the world and was a great flier, each day he could fly better, faster and higher.

Ethan was growing so fast! Now, he was less fluffy and less yellow, but his mommy still called him, her "Little Naughty Fellow".

On the 1st of September he was spellbound. A leaf fell from his tree and on to the ground. In shock, Ethan started tweeting, tooting and humming. His parents just laughed and said, "Looks like Fall is coming".

Ethan had heard of this "Fall" before, but he never thought it would happen to him!

Suddenly, the forest seemed dark and grim.

On the 1st of October, Ethan's dad said a very long goodbye to the squirrel and raccoon who lived in the trees nearby.

The leaves were in piles of red, orange and brown, and Ethan could only sit in his tree and frown.

Ethan cried out, " I want to stay here!" Just then, his mom said, "Baby, we will be back next year!"

Ethan desperately wanted his way.

Ethan's mom told him it would be too cold to stay.
