Julia had been in the hospital for five months. She was a very sick little girl who just wanted to go home. But she didn't know when she would be able to leave. Her parents visited her every day but after awhile even they couldn't cheer her up. "Wake up everyone!" the nurse called out. "We have a very special guest visiting us today. And here she is!" It was Jewel from the highly popular superhero series on television.

"It's her! It's really her!" a young girl screamed. Soon a large group of kids surrounded Jewel. Some of them started shouting out questions to her while others stood there in disbelief. They couldn't believe that the hero they watched on T.V. every week was right in front of them. She was so cool and had some awesome super powers. "Hello there children. I'm Jewel and I'm so happy to meet you all." Jewel was a big inspiration for her young fans. What made her extra-special to Julia was the fact that Jewel was a female super hero.

She stayed for two whole hours as she put on display of all her powers. It was awesome! Jewel also took pictures with every kid, signed autographs, and answered all of their questions about her many adventures in Crystal City. Julia wanted to talk to her hero but was too shy. "Okay everyone, Jewel has to go now but I'm sure she'll come back and visit real soon" the nurse said. "Absolutely! I may have a costume but you are all the real heroes" she remarked on her way out. "Wait!" Julia yelled as Jewel headed down the hallway.

By the time Julia caught up to Jewel she began to cough uncontrollably. "I'm so embarrassed" Julia apologized. "Don't be. I would've waited for you." "Really?" "I could sense that there was something extraordinary about you Julia." "You know my name?" "I'm going to tell you a secret that nobody else knows. But you can't tell anyone. Promise?" "Promise" Julia nervously responded. "Jewel is more than a T.V. character. I'm a superhero in real life too." "No way!" "I can only do so much on my own and I need a partner. Interested?" "YES!"

Jewel held up her crystal and soon everything came to an abrupt halt. Bright blue lights illuminated the entire hospital. Julia started feeling woozy and her head was spinning from all of the excitement."Okay, you can look now" Jewel said. "Look at what?" "Your new costume Diamond Girl." "Diamond Girl? Holy Cow! I'm a superhero!" a shocked and delighted Julia exclaimed. "It's time to go Diamond Girl!" "Go where?" "To save Crystal City!" "But I can't leave....."

The pair of superheroes flew off into the sky leaving the hospital far behind. "Where are we going?" Julia inquired. "Crystal City." "But isn't that a fictional city from the show?" "The show doesn't do the real Crystal City justice. Just you wait and see. You will be amazed by this magnificent metropolis and why we need to save it." Julia, I mean Diamond Girl didn't know what to expect. The only Crystal City she had ever known was constructed on a Hollywood set.

"Wow! It's an entire city filled with castles built on the clouds  It's beautiful!" "And all of the homes are made of ice but they look like exotic diamonds. That is why we are always on guard for villains who want to raid our city and steal our natural resources" Jewel explained. "When do I get to meet the Crystal Queen?" Diamond Girl asked. "You don't. We don't have a queen. That's just a T.V. character. Everybody is equal in Crystal City although not every one of our citizens agrees with that."

"This is Russell Sprouts. He wants to sell our natural resources to the highest bidder and bring in outsiders to exploit our city.  He can't do it on his own so he has assembled some powerful allies. The citizens of Crystal City live in constant fear that one day Sprouts and his minions will steal The Crystal and leave our city in a state of disarray. He says he has no such plans but our spies have caught him talking to a group of dangerous goons. That's why you're here Diamond Girl. I can't fight the good fight on my own."
