Try to think of words that the audience knows the meaning of and isn't too hard to pronounce. Also, think of words that you know and other children know about.

Make your book to be interesting to keep the audience entertained and want to keep reading it. If you use the same word a lot of times, boring words and no problems make the audience probably want to stop reading for good.
