The central nervous system consists of the brain and the spinal cord. The peripheral nervous system is made up of nerves and consists of bundles of axons.

The Spinal Meninges are specialized membranes that isolate the spinal cord from its surroundings. Its functions are to protect the spinal cord and carry blood.

The cranial meninges consists of 3 protective layers protecting the brain with a tough outer layer with fibrous covering that sticks to the bones of the skull.

The spinal cord can be divided into 31 segments, each of which has a pair of spinal nerves branching off.

White matter tissue contains millions of nerve fibers or axons that connect to the other parts of brain or spinal cord and signal your nerves to work with one another.

Grey matter contains most of the brains neuronal call bodies. Includes regions of the body involving muscle control, sensory, memory, emotions, speech, decision making and self control.

A spinal nerve is a mixed nerve, which carries motor, sensory, and autonomic signals between the  and the body. In the human body there are 31 pairs of spinal nerves, one on each side of the vertebral column. ... The spinal nerves are part of the peripheral nervous system.

The olfactory nerve is a part of cranial and is responsible for smell. The oculomotor nerve moves the eyeball and eye lid along with the pupil and adjusts the lens of the eye. The trigeminal nerve controls facial sensations and chewing. Lastly the accessory nerve is motor control of the neck and upper back muscles.

The function of the cerebellum of the brain is to regulate motor movements and coordinates all voluntary movements.

The brain stem includes the midbrain or mesencephalon (visual and auditory reflexes), pons (main respiratory center, controls rate and depth of breathing), medulla oblongata (vital reflex center: vasomotor, cardiac and respiratory center.

The cerebrum is the different areas of the cerebral cortex which all have very different functions.
