To Johnny and Dolores Hayter,
thank you for bringing this bundle of joy into our lives. We love you.

Max is what they called him,
happy and full of joy.
Running and jumping
is what made him a good boy.

He liked to run and jump
without an end.
That’s when we realized
“Max needs a small friend."

All his energy needs to
be shared with another.
Instead of just playing
alone with me and my brother.

Days went on and on
With no new friend.
But things turned around
When it got to the weekend.

It was a nice day,
In the warm month of July.
When a nice little cat
Strut on by.

She looked curious
As she strut in the yard.
Meanwhile, Max watched
her like a guard.

Max was surprised to
See such a creature.
He had never seen
These kind of features.

Max and the cat
both mingled for a bit.
After a while, they
seemed like the perfect fit.

When she passed
an object, she'd take a whiff.
That's when we decided
to name her,"Sniff".

As time passed, their
bond grew stronger.
Occasionally, the two
would often wander.

"Don't wander too far,"
I would say.
Until one day, I heard,
"MAX RAN AWAY!"

We all panicked and
went on a quest.
While sniff waited,
alone and depressed.

We searched every street,
tree, bush, and park.
This journey got harder,
when it started getting dark.

Sniff was very sad to
know her friend was gone.
Until she decided to
go wait on the lawn.
