Today, Mrs. Fink gave us these journals to write stuff in. Today, I shall write a haiku for language homework.
4:00 PM
After School
My haiku:
Tedious hillside
suddenly springy noob prowls
whilst watching the car
I hope Mrs. Fink thinks it was written by me, Annabeth Ervin, and not the poem generator. It was painful writing it out by hand.

I got my best friend ( or close enough) Saima Choi to try out the poem generator. But first, let me tell you about Saima.
Saima is the kind of person you would never expect a loud girl like me to hang out with. She’s really shy and always fiddling with her long, black hair. Also, she’s scared of armadillos. Don’t ask. Literally, whenever there’s one of those
ominous spooky sounds, she always expects it to be an armadillo. Rattling plates? Armadillo. A sound coming from the closet? Armadillo. Insane chainsaw murderer? Maybe he’s actually an armadillo. Anyway, Saima’s mom left when she was young, so she lives with her dad and grandparents across the street. Here’s how we met.
6-year-old Anna: “Hi! Are you the family that just moved in?”
Saima: ...
Anna: “Nice to meet ya!”
Saima: “Hi”
Anna: “That’s a nice name!”
Saima: “Yeah I just moved into this street.”
Anna: “When’s your birthday?”
Saima: “nice to meet you too”
Anna: “How old are you?”
Saima: “December 12th”
Anna: “Okay then Time to go back inside.”
I told my mom about the lag in conversation and after a few million playdates, we were officially going steady. As friends. Obviously.
Anyway, Saima used the haiku generator and this is what came up:
Near break of the day
A precious, pink stone lies
enjoying the lake
She said she really liked it and would use the poem she got. Did I tell you that Saima is the easiest person to amuse?
Date: Wednesday, Nov 28
Time: 5:00 PM
Location: Saima’s house
Tried the haiku generator 5 more times to get one that was as poetic as Saima’s. Here are some of the results:
Brown evening
A beautiful, fine wife crawls
into the camel
Snow-clad christmastide
An adorable girl stands
betrayed by the dog
Welp, I tried.

Oh. My. LORD.
The haikus were for a contest. A poetry contest. And I handed mine in. Saima didn’t yet, she said she was photocopying it and framing copies to put around her house and somehow that qualifies as a viable excuse for handing it in late. Well, I mean, quiet people get all the excuses.
Well, it’s not like I signed my name on it, cause I’m a forgetful little child, thank god, but I need a plan because the winner of the contest gets free knitting lessons.
I know it sounds like a really stupid thing to go for, but I’m getting a new baby cousin in December and if I don’t come up with something good for him, my mother will roast me alive, and so will my aunt and her brother.
