In an empty room, a phone dings with a text message. 

Emma twirls into the room. Emma is afraid to answer the text.

Emma's mother is upstairs taking a shower and cannot answer the text.

Due to Emma's fear, the text goes unanswered for a long time. Emma sees the message, it was from her grandma.

"Emma. sweetie, why didn't you answer the text?" Emma's mother asked as she came down the stairs.

"I was afraid." Emma said. "I don't know what to say!" she cried.

"I think it is time that I teach you about phone etiquette," said Emma's mom. "What do you think about that?"

"It is a wonderful idea!" Emma shouted.

"You see, Emma, when you answer a text you read what it says, then decide if you can answer the question or not."

"What do I do next, mama?" Emma questions her mother, eager to learn more.

"Well, Emma, after you decide if you can answer, you do one of two things. You either bring the phone to me so I can answer, or you do it yourself."

"If you know the answer then you need to reply. You should do so by using proper English, and spelling words out fully and correctly. You should say the same thing you would to their face." 

Emma thought about this for a while.

The next day...

The phone begins to ring with another text, Emma's mother is out in the garden.
