The Dust Bowl was a series of dust storms that ruined farmlands and American prairies.
This made the effects of
the Great Depression even
worse, since so many
farms and homes were lost.

In the Great Depression, everyone suffered money loss, even school districts. The schools no longer had the money to pay teachers,
so many districts shut down.
This left many kids without any
form of learning.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the president
during the time of the Great Depression.
He helped make the country's economy
stable and gave jobs and relief
to those in need.

Hoovervilles were towns of shaggy huts
built by the unemployed. People
built these to blame Herbert Hoover
for "bringing the country into the
depression."
