JEFF AND THE SCARY LIZARD

    Once there was a little Gecko who lived in the woods. His name was Jeff. Now Jeff liked to play at the edge of the woods because there was a big yard there and he could see a long way off. The world can look pretty big when you’re just a little Gecko.

There was even a big house with a fence around it and people inside. Sometimes Jeff climbed up on the fence and walked all the way to the house. Walking and climbing on the house was fun because it was so different from the woods. He was out in the wide open there and in the woods he was always surrounded by bushes and trees

Across the yard there was a water fountain full of cool water and Jeff really wanted to go there to swim, but down in the grass he saw a HUGE green Lizard. Jeff was afraid of him because he was SO big and scary looking.

Jeff even saw the Lizard catch and eat a great big dragonfly once and that made Jeff even more afraid of him because that dragonfly was almost as big as Jeff was! The biggest thing Jeff could eat was a housefly but they were hard to catch so Jeff did not get very many of them - Jeff had to stick to eating the slower bugs.

One day Jeff was sitting on the fence watching the big Lizard and trying to figure out how to get past him, when a bird swooped down and tried to eat the Lizard. The big Lizard ran and the bird missed him but the bird turned and came after him again. The big Lizard ran into the flower bed and turned brown and the bird could not see him.
