I dedicate this book to my wonderful third grade class!

Angela Palmer was a dedicated equestrian who put her horses above everything in her life. She loved to take care of her horses and even kept her horses on her backyard. One day, she went out to feed her beloved horse, Marvin, breakfast. She walked out to an empty pasture. Silence crept over the green, lush property. Her horse had disappeared!
911 What is your emergency?
HELP!!! MY HORSE HAS BEEN STOLEN!
Don't worry ma'am, the police are on their way now.
Detective Lassiter arrived to the scene of the crime. He wore his black sunglasses and spoke arrogantly to Anglea, "Are you SURE you didn't just leave the gate open?"
"I would never do that! I love my horses."
The detective rolled his eyes behind his dark lenses. He sent the team of police officers to investigate the scene.
The police surveyed the area and found three clues.
First, there were big tires tracks leading to the gate of the pasture that looked like they had come from a huge truck.
Second, there was a piece of red fabric stuck to the fence that looked like it had come from a shirt.
Lastly, they discovered that all of Marvin's feed and care items had been taken as well.
Upon hearing the police's findings, Angela exclaimed, "My neighbor Mr. Tucker has a big black truck with a trailer and he always wears a red button down shirt! I bet he took MArvin because we have gotten in lots of fights about Marvin eating apples from Mr. Tucker's apple tree!"
The police quickly headed to the neighbor's house. Mr. Tucker was asleep in his rocking chair on the front porch. Sure enough, a black truck with a trailer attached to it was sitting in the driveway. Its tires were covered in mud like it had been driving through muddy pastures....
"Mr. Tucker, we would like to ask you a few questions about a missing horse," said Detective Lassiter.
"I don't know nothing about a missing horse!" he replied angrily.
While the police continued to question Mr. Tucker, Anglea remembered something! One of the people she showed Marvin against had made a comment that "she would like to take Marvin out of the competition".
