"Where are you going", asked Rubin, "Warsaw" said Chaya, Rubin touched Chaya's arm, "No Chaya you must know what's happening there."
(Nielsen pg. 234)
This quote is important because it means Rubin wants keep Chaya alive instead of letting her leave to fulfill her mission. Rubin is dismissing the loyalty that Chaya has to the resistance. He wants Chaya to stay with him and join the Persians.
Quotes
"I feel like a criminal" said Esther," I suppose that's what we are. These days, it is a crime to be Jewish, or to have been born." (Nielsen pg. 180)
This quote is important because many Jewish people feel like they are criminals. This is due to the government spreading false information about them. Such as," Jewish people made diseases" which is false and misleading. This created the Germans to turn against their fellow friends and neighbors. This is sad that the government is turning people against each other.
Goals of the resistance
The Resistance had many goals, one of the goals was to die in honor and to respect their religion. Another goal is to not follow others blindly like lambs to the slaughter. An additional goal is to spread truth about the trains and how they transported Jews and the communists to death camps killing countless people. They also tried to get the Polish (i.e. Poles) to join in on the fight, so the resistance group would not be alone in their fight for freedom. The main reason was to get freedom from the Germans, and to stop the mass murder of Jewish people.
Everyone participating in ghetto uprisings are not common in the ghetto neighborhoods, only a select group of people are involved. Mass ghetto uprising are mostly lead by older teens. The ghetto in Warsaw had a huge uprising against the Germans, which lasted a little over a month. The housing structures of the ghetto didn't stand a chance against the Nazi gunfire because the walls in the buildings were as thin as paper. The resistance fighters held them off because they took the Germans guns and ammo. The uprising would have succeeded if the underground Polish army would have joined in and helped them fight. The resistance here had some good happy moments in the ghetto, they had parties, plays and celebrated the Sabbath, despite being suppressed by the Nazi's.

Jewish Resistance
The Jewish resistance was the group that met in ghettos or in cellars after curfew. The place that they chose to meet up in was really quiet and dark. Most of the Jewish groups wanted to get Polish (i.e. Poles) to fight against the Germans. The Jewish resistance tried to celebrate Sabbath any time they could, this was so they could keep worshiping God. Some groups had Gestapo members (Nazi secret police) or traitors in their ranks. This created many problems for the resistance when they tried to set up an ambush or an attack.

Pictured here is the rounding up of Jewish people - They are getting pushed into a ghetto.
Esther
Esther was a younger member of the Akiva resistance group. She was involved in a train raid with Chaya, which failed miserably. The Germans were aware of the raid and made sure that it didn't happen as planned. Chaya thought that Esther was the reason that Jakeob got shot during the train raid. Also, Esther was involved in the cafe attack, in which she helped Chaya with the killing of German soldiers. Esther was one of the only people to survive the cafe attack. She met up with Chaya one month after the cafe attack. One thing she was needing to do was to set up a resistance cell in Lodz ghetto. This is how Esther tricked Chaya to go to Warsaw to join the fight there.
