Your mind is a part of your body. It affects all the parts of your body. For example, if your mind is feeling sad, then your body may feel tired. What are some other mind-body connections you can think of?


is for care.

Self-care is extremely important. Always find time to do an activity that matters to you and makes you feel better. Take some time to explore outdoors, watch a movie, exercise, or do other things you love to do.


is for different.

There are many different kinds of mental health issues. They differ in each individual. Mental health struggles are not the same in everybody. So it is possible two people may struggle with anxiety differently.



is for everyone.

Everyone goes through some kind of struggle. For some that is their mental health. 1 out of 5 children in the United States struggles with mental health. It is important to recognize that everyone is going through something even if you may not see it.

is for feelings.

Feelings are not to be afraid of. There are many different kinds of feelings that exist in our mind. They can exist alone such as feeling mad, or they can coexist such as feeling mad and sad at the same time. Make a list of all of the feelings you can think of.



is for gentle.

Situations can escalate really fast when mental health is involved. It is important to note that people struggling with mental health must always be approached gently. We must be gentle with them, and their situation.


is for health.

It is just as important for our minds to be healthy as it is for our bodies to be healthy. Remember, our mind's health affects our body's health.

is for inclusive.

It is important to always be inclusive of others despite their diagnosis. Remember individuals are not to be left out just because they are struggling. What are some ways you can include those struggling?


is for just BREATHE.

When you are feeling mad, sad, stressed, lonely, or scared- just stop: and take a deep breath. Breathing can help calm you down when you feel like you can't control your mind anymore. Here, let's try it together by counting to 10 slowly.

is for kindness.

Be kind. Kindness can be shown through words, actions, and even in the way you think about others and yourself. What are some ways you can be kind to others around you?

is for let's talk about it!

Talk about how you are feeling. Talk about how your mind and body feel. Be open about your feelings with someone you trust. Talking can really help you feel better. Professionals are trained to talk about feelings to help make your mind feel better.



is for mental health.

Mental health is the well being of your mind. It can cause a change in moods, feelings, and behavior. Mental health is extremely important affects many aspects of life such as school, work, and home. What are some other ways life can be affected?

is for non-verbal cues.

Nonverbal cues are ways people communicate with each other without speaking by using body language. This includes body movements, noises (such as groans), behavior, and facial expressions. Can you think of more?

is for opportunity.

When you notice something is wrong with a friend, take the opportunity to tell an adult to help the situation. Be there for your friend in getting them the help and guidance that they need.

is for problem solving.

Mental health professionals use problem solving framework to help identify what mental health concern someone is going through. They then consider the best options and put it into action.
