World Cuisine: 4th hour
Myth 1: Is there enough food to feed the world?

Many people question if there's enough food for everyone to eat in the world. We're here to tell you that there is enough food in the world!

"The food crisis appeared to explode overnight, reinforcing fears that there are just too many people in the world," wrote Eric Holt-Giménez and Loren Peabody of Food First.
The reality is that there is enough food in the world today for everyone to have the nourishment necessary for a healthy and productive life. There is, however, a need to be more efficient, sustainable, and fair in how we grow and distribute food. This means a) supporting small-scale farmers and b) making sure that food 'safety nets' are in place to protect the most vulnerable people from hunger.
OUR PLAN
Our personal action plan is to start donating food to food pantries once a month and/or donating money to organizations in which goes to kids or families that are unable to pay for food.
Organizations that help:
Society of St. Andrews — provide fresh crops 16,188,638 lbs of fresh produce last year
Food pantries — Middleton, Milton, subsidized groceries ($200 dollars for local grocery store)
Children’s hunger alliance — 7,000,000 healthy snacks and meals provided last year
