Introduction
My digital storybook is about two students taking a trip to the Amazon Rainforest. While they are there, they are looking at all the plants and animals around them. The students will learn about where the Amazon Rainforest is, what type of animals there are, and other basic information. The standards that I will be using will be for second grade, as that is a grade I plan to teach. The three problems I have created vary in difficulty, which is what I envisioned. The first problem is the simplest and the last problem is the hardest. I hope you enjoy!

Amy and Tom are both on an adventure! They are going to explore the Amazon Rainforest!

The Amazon Rainforest is located in South America! It is the green portion on this map and it spans over 2 million miles.

The Amazon Rainforest contains over 805 types of species of mammals and reptiles.

Problem 1:
How many ones? tens? hundreds? are in 805.
(check answer in the back)

Amy and Tom are starting to get very hot! The Amazon Rainforest has a very high temperature and they need to cool down!

Problem 2:
The temperature in the Amazon Rainforest can reach a high of 94 degrees Fahrenheit in the day and a low of 68 degrees Fahrenheit at night. What is the difference of degrees between the temperature from day to night rounded to the nearest ten?
(check answer in the back)

Amy and Tom wanted to see all of the species in the Rainforest! Even though this would take a while because the Amazon is so large!

Problem 3:
Amy and Tom drove 15 miles to see a mountain gorilla, then they drove 27 miles from the mountain gorilla to look at the jaguar. Then they ended the drive by driving 19 miles from the jaguar to look at a scarlet macaw. How many miles did the kids drive in all?
(check answer in the back)

The sun is setting, but Amy and Tom had a great adventure! They were able to see jaguars, gorillas, sloths, and butterflies.
