Arkansas was the 25th
territory to become a state.
It became a state on
June 15th, 1836.

The Arkansas flag was adopted
in 1913. The diamond shape represents being a diamond
bearing state. The 25 stars
on the border represent being
the 25th state admitted
to the Union.

Little Rock is the state
capitol of Arkansas.
It is also the largest
city in the state, with
198,606 people.

Arkansas has a population
of over 3 million people in 75 counties. We live in
the town of Ozark, in
Franklin County.


The state tree of Arkansas
is the pine tree.
Do you have pine
trees in your yard?


Arkansas is nicknamed
"The Natural State" and is sometimes called the "The Diamond State."
The state motto is "the people rule."
Have you ever seen an Apple Blossom? That is Arkansas' state flower. You can see the blooms from April to June. Here is a picture
of the bloom.

The state bird is the Northern Mockingbird. It has gray
to brown upper
feathers and
a paler belly.

Arkansas Foods
The South Arkansas
Vine Ripe Pink Tomato is the state
fruit and vegetable. The state
beverage is milk.

Arkansas contains over 600,000 acres of lakes and 9,700 miles of streams and rivers.
