All about the Solar System

The Solar System is a system where all 8 planets revolve around the sun. The planet we live on *Earth* takes 365 days to make one full rotation around the sun. That's why there are 365 days in a year!

The Solar System is in order from the planets that are closest to the sun. The order is Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

At this point in time we still have no signs of life on any other planet except for Earth

A dwarf planet is a celestial body resembling a small planet but lacking certain technical criteria that are required for it to be classed as such. There are 5 dwarf planets in the Solar System which include Ceres, Pluto, Haumea, Makemake and Eris

Mercury is the smallest and innermost along with being the hottest and closest planet to the sun in the Solar System. Its orbit around the Sun takes only 87.97 days, the shortest of all the planets in the Solar System.

Venus is the second planet from the Sun. It is named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty. As the second-brightest natural object in the night sky after the Moon, Venus can cast shadows and, rarely, is visible to the naked eye in broad daylight.

Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and the second-smallest planet in the Solar System after Mercury. In English, Mars carries a name of the Roman god of war and is often referred to as the 'Red Plane

Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and the largest in the Solar System. It is a gas giant with a mass one-thousandth that of the Sun, but two-and-a-half times that of all the other planets in the Solar System combined.
