Dedication
I would like to dedicate this book to my mother who helped me learn to be responsible and take care of things on my own. I love you Mom!

It’s a beautiful September morning on this first day of fourth grade for Rosie Miller. Rosie, however, is still tucked snugly under the covers despite her mom trying to wake her numerous times.

“Wake up Rosie Posie, Wake up, it’s the first day of fourth grade!”
Rosie struggles to open her eyes, but she finally manages to swing her feet to the floor and push herself up out of bed.

“Mom!” Rosie calls. "Can you pour me some cereal for breakfast?" Rosie’s mom shouts back, “You know we have talked about you getting your own breakfast, Rosie, I have your brothers to tend to!”
Rosie is the proud big sister of four-year-old twin brothers! They are a handful, very active, and they take up a lot of Mrs. Miller’s time.

Rosie is going to be 10 years old this school year and she is supposed start doing some big girl things for herself!

Rosie makes her way into the kitchen, and much to her mom’s surprise Rosie is still in her pajamas.
“Rosie, we talked about you coming out for breakfast dressed and ready for school. You know I need to get breakfast for your brothers.”

Rosie sits down and begins eating the bowl of cereal that her mom poured for her breakfast.

“Rosie, you need to hurry, you didn’t wake up to your alarm and you did not get up on time! It’s the first day of school and you aren’t off to a good start.”

Rosie pulls her mom by the hand and off they go to Rosie’s room to pick out an outfit. Rosie’s mom helps her brush her hair and get her new backpack ready to go.
“Now Rosie, all you need to do is brush your teeth. I need to get back to the kitchen to gather your lunch and check on your brothers!”

Rosie finally comes down with her book bag on her back as her mom hands her lunch.

“Put your lunch in your book bag, Rosie.”
“Can’t you, mom?”

“Oh Rosie,” her mom sighs.

Rosie, her mom and her twin brothers make their way outside and wait for the bus. Within an few minutes, the bus appears.

“Have a good first day of fourth grade, Rosie, I love you!”
All day in school Rosie is daydreaming of her 10th birthday coming up.

“I'm going to ask my mom for a puppy for my birthday. I will feed him, walk him and even give him baths and brush his fur!” she tells her best friend Kate.
Ring ring, the school bell sounds and the first day of fourth grade comes to a close. Rosie hops off the bus to find her mom and twin brothers waiting.

“How was the first day of school Rosie?” her mom asks.
"Great!”, Rosie says.
As Rosie’s mom comes in, she finds Rosie’s book bag on the floor still filled with her lunchbox from the day.
