Once upon a time in a house in the woods, Little Puppy lived happily with his mom and dad. One day, Little Puppy's mom said, "Little Puppy, we need to go out for the day. You're a big puppy now, and I want you to stay here and be a good boy. Don't go outside while we're gone."

"Okay," said Little Puppy. "I'll be a good boy while you're gone."

"Good bye, Little Puppy," said his mom and dad.

"Good bye, Mom and Dad," said Little Puppy. And Little Puppy was left alone for the first time ever.

When Little Puppy's mom and dad left, he played in his room with his dinosaurs and blocks. Then Little Puppy played in the living room with his toy cars, and he read some of his favorite books.

After a while, Little Puppy looked out of the window and saw three cute little squirrels playing in the trees. "I'm going to go outside and play with those squirrels," he thought.

Little Puppy went outside to play with the squirrels. The squirrels jumped from tree to tree. Little Puppy ran and tried to keep up with the squirrels. He ran through the fields, by the river, and into the woods following the squirrels. But the squirrels were fast and soon they ran off, leaving Little Puppy alone in the woods.

When Little Puppy looked around, he realized he didn't know where he was. He was lost!

"Oh no," said Little Puppy. "How am I going to find my way home?" Little Puppy sat down and began to cry.

Little Puppy was very sad. He was also very afraid. But then he heard a noise. He looked up in a tree and saw a monkey swinging from a branch.

"Why are you crying," asked the monkey.

"Because my mom and dad went out and told me to stay home, but I went out to play with the squirrels and now I'm lost," cried Little Puppy.

"Why, that's no reason to cry," said the monkey. "I'll help you find your way home."

"You will?" asked Little Puppy. "Oh, thank you! What's your name?"

The monkey said, "My name is Funny Monkey. Everyone calls me that because I'm funny."

So Funny Monkey and Little Puppy began walking in the woods and through the fields. They walked by a big mountain and saw a rainbow. They walked and walked.

"Gosh," said Funny Monkey after a while. "Now I'm a little lost, too. I don't know how to find your home."

"Oh, no," cried Little Puppy. "It's going to get dark soon." Little Puppy was now very, very sad. "I did not listen to my mom and dad when they told me to stay inside the house while they went out today. And we're so lost. Oh, no."

Just then, Little Puppy and Funny Monkey heard a big "BAA-BOOM". They looked up and saw a big, big, big elephant.

"Please don't hurt us Mr. Elephant," said Little Monkey.

"Hurt you?", asked Mr. Elephant. "I would never hurt you. Tell me, why you and your monkey friend are crying?"

Little Puppy told Mr. Elephant about getting lost and about Funny Monkey trying to help. "But, now we're both lost," he said.

"Well, well, well. Not to worry," said Mr. Elephant. "I can help you."

"You can?" cried Little Puppy and Funny Monkey together. "Oh, thank you!"

"Sure. Just climb up on my back and we'll start looking for your home," said Mr. Elephant.
