Eddie Electron is writing a book! On this sunny day, he decided to find all his friends and interview them for his book. It was going to be called "My Friends".

Look! There's Amy Affinity!

"Hi Amy!" Said Eddie. "Would you like to be in my book?"

"Of course!" Amy responded.

"Okay! Tell me some facts about yourself, and I will write them down.

"I am the amount of energy released when an electron is added to an atom." Said Amy. "I decrease down the groups and across the periods."

"Thanks Amy!" Said Eddie.

Suddenly, he spotted Ricky

Radius, and headed over

to talk to him.

"Hello Ricky!" Eddie said. "Do you want to be in my book?"

"Sure!" Ricky replied. "What do I need to do?"

Eddie explained the book, and got ready to write.

"I am the measure of the distance from the center of the nucleus to the furthest electron shell. I decrease across periods and increase down groups."

"Thanks so much, Ricky!" Eddie said, writing it down. "Bye!"

Next, Eddie talked to Ian Ionization.

"Want to be in my book?" He asked.

Ian was excited to be in the book, and described himself like the others.

"I am the energy that it takes to remove an electron from an atom. I increase across a period and decrease down a group."

The last friend Eddie wanted to interview was Nellie Negativity. Nellie was happy to be in the book, and told Eddie about herself.

"I am a property that describes an atom's tendency to attract other atoms to itself. I increase across periods and decrease down groups."

"Thank you so much, Nellie!" said Eddie.

"Of course!" Nellie responded. There was only one more thing Eddie had to write about.
