"I still think most writers are just kids who refuse to grow up. We're still playing imaginary games, with our imaginary friends." -Ian Rankin

"You wanted to see me Detective Kimball?" "Yeah, it's about the new detective." "What about him?" the Captain replied. "Um, how do I say this?" "Just spit it out Kimball." "He's a little weird. I mean he's a grown man who sees and talks to an imaginary tiger. And if that wasn't enough he actually thinks the tiger helps him solve cases. How'd this guy even qualify to become a police officer in the first place?" "Alright, calm down Kimball. I understand your frustrations. I'll admit that Kent's style is a little unorthodox but he gets results. He has solved some of the biggest cases in the history of the Highland Police Department."

"What's this guy's story anyways Captain?" "Orville Kent had a pretty rough childhood. He moved around a lot as he went from foster home to foster home. Many believe that he created Pouncer to help him get through the difficult times in his life. And obviously it did. Despite having such a rocky upbringing, Kent was a straight A student in both high school and college. At first I wasn't sure about bringing him aboard but he is the best detective we got." "Oh, I didn't know that he had things so tough growing up. Still, I can't work with a guy who has conversations with imaginary tigers." "You have no choice Kimball. I need two of my top detectives working together on the next case."

"What's so special about this case?" "There is a huge Canadian company called Jingles that is planning a massive delivery of some of their finest delicacies. These rare treats are only available in Canada." "Like what?" "Buttertarts, Nanaimo Bars, Coffee Crisps, and Kraft Dinner are just a few of their tempting entrées" "Ooo, they sound heavenly." "There are a lot of people who would like to get their hands on these gourmet goodies before they're available to the public. Word on the street has it that Shipley Blackjack and his men are planning on a major heist. I need you and Kent to finally bring these goons to justice. Follow this map. It will take you to the secret lookout position."

"Okay Captain, Kent and I here at the lookout." "Ahem!" Kent interrupted. "Seriously? Alright, Kent, Pouncer, and I are on the outskirts of Highland City waiting for the delivery trucks to arrive from Canada." "Keep your eyes open for Blackjack and his men and be careful out there. They are extremely dangerous." "Don't worry Captain, we've got a man-eating tiger watching our back!" Kent shouted into the phone. "Really Captain?" "Just humor him Kimball. Once you put Blackjack and his men away I'll let you choose a new partner. While you're waiting why don't you take this opportunity to get to know your partner. Or should I say partners" the Captain chuckled. "Very funny. I'll keep you posted."

"Pouncer just spotted the delivery truck. A group of vehicles have surrounded the truck and removed the driver" Kent called out. "Oh please, Pouncer didn't see anything! Wait a second, you're right. They're headed back to Blackjack's warehouse. Time to roll!" "Alright Pouncer take the wheel!" "He drives?" "Of course not. He doesn't even know how to drive standard." "This is gonna be a long assignment. Okay, I'll drive and you keep your eyes on the truck ahead." The two determined detectives followed the stolen truck through a series of backroads before they arrived at Blackjack's hideout. It was an old abandoned factory where the gang would store their stolen merchandise.

The detectives headed to the back of the warehouse where they climbed through an unlocked window. "Keep nice and quiet Kent. Once we catch Blackjack and round up his men we'll call for backup. Got it?" "Who's ready for Tigger's Song?" Pouncer roared. "I am! I am!" Kent shrieked. "Shh!" Kimball warned his partner to quiet down. "And a one and a two........" While Kimball stewed, Kent and Pouncer belted out their favorite song but were interrupted by two of Blackjack's henchmen.
"The wonderful thing about Tiggers, Is Tiggers are wonderful things!
Their tops are made out of rubber,Their bottoms are made out of springs!"

Blackjack's men locked the detectives in a room without windows. Soon water began to pour into the room engulfing the pair. "Well, you must be pretty ticked at me Kimball. I don't blame you. I guess a grown man talking to an imaginary tiger is ridiculous and immature." "Yeah, uh, about that. I've got a confession. If we get out of this jam promise not to anyone?" "I won't" Kent agreed. "I had an awful time while I was at the Police Academy and so I created a 'friend' of my own. He helped get me through the program when I thought about quitting. My first few years on the force were pretty shaky. I was on the verge of resigning a couple of times and then I had a wild idea."

"I brought Blackjack back as a dangerous criminal whose plans only I was able to thwart. Since he never physically existed he'd never got caught. Yeah, that's right, Shipley Blackjack was my imaginary friend." "What happened to him?" "After a while I figured I didn't need him anymore so we parted ways. It was very awkward." "Angry and confused, he vowed to get his revenge on me and Highland City." "Can't you two let bygones be bygones?" Kent shouted as the water levels began to rise. "I can't, you see he's become someone else's imaginary friend. The only way to stop him is to find out who it is. I think I may know the culprit but we need to get out of here first."

Things started to look grim for the detectives when Kent remembered that there was someone who could save them. "You might have stopped believing in your imaginary friend Kimball, but I haven't." Something started to bubble under the water. It was Pouncer! "Hop aboard gents!" the toothy tiger urged. Pouncer wrapped his arms around the pair as he climbed the wall using his front and back claws. "Okay, now what?" Kimball asked. SPLOOSH! "Where's he going Kent?" Pouncer dove back into the water and furiously clapperclawed at the locked door. Several minutes passed and Pouncer was still under water as the detectives began to worry. But soon the water began to rapidly swirl down the drain.
