Pandora

Pandora was the first human woman to be made from the gods.
Background: Prometheus (a fire god and divine trickster) stole fire from heaven and brought it to mortals. Hephaestus created Pandora to counteract this blessing.
Pandora was created to punish Prometheus for stealing fire from the gods and giving it to the humans.
Pandora was gifted a jar full of all evils and diseases by one of the gods, which would release all evils upon mortals to counteract the greatness of fire.
Zeus had warned her not to open the jar because bad things would come from it.
As soon as she got married to Epimetheus (Prometheus's brother), she opened the jar out of curiosity and released the evil.
Shocked by what had happened after opening the box, she quickly tried to put the lid back, managing to merely trap hope inside it. That is why hope is the last thing that dies in a man.
